Neil Ross

Neil started singing at the tender age of eight, as the lead boy soprano at St Nicholas’ Church Whiston, Lancashire. He was in great demand at the time for local weddings and funerals.

After his voice broke at about the age of twelve, he had a break and then came back on the scene in his early 20’s as a guitar vocalist, playing a range of styles from country and folk to popular hits. Soon he was noticed by a Scottish agent who could see his potential and advised him to go for voice training at The Blue Coat Chambers in Liverpool. His teacher Ernest Hopner, put him through his paces and Neil emerged a much stronger and more diverse performer, gaining recognition at the National Search for a Star Competition in Great Yarmouth for the whole of Haven Holidays, winning £1000 which at the time seemed like a fortune.

It wasn’t long before Neil started to attract interest from several agents and started to work regularly in Clubland covering a large area from Scotland, Wales, the North East, the North West, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. Later on he broke from his main agent and decided to go freelance, and showcased for the concert secretary’s association in Blackpool and the rest is history. He became so popular he was known as Mr Blackpool !

His journey then took an international turn. A holiday to Benidorm ended in him gaining work,  and subsequently being offered more and more work, he decided to move there permanently. Needless to say he is now known as Mr Benidorm, due to his popularity and his many and varied loyal fans who go back to see him time and time again.

There are reasons why Neil is so popular; his phenomenal talent, coupled with his delightful personality on and of the stage. He has a certain magic in his performances that draws the audience into his wonderful world of music.

Certainly, one from the top drawer – if you get an opportunity to see him perform live, you will not be disappointed.

Let it be me

Any dream will do

Let the heartaches

Look for me in rainbows

If tomorrow never comes

You’ve lost that loving feeling

The impossible dream

To make you feel my love

If I never sing another song

You raise me up
