This is a very well known English saying. How much truth there is in it however, is up for discussion.

‘Wait’ as in just wait around thinking that some miracle is going to happen and someone or something is going to notice your wonderful, amazing talent from afar and haul you out of obscurity to launch your career to the stars; probably means that you’ll still be waiting 10 years from now, wondering what went wrong 🙁

‘Wait’ as in – work like a demon, with a razor like focus on your goals, investing every waking moment to make yourself and your act more attractive, aswell as developing contacts that will help move your career in the right direction – is a totally different matter.
